DETAILED NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT & SERVICES PROVIDED:

DCE is the prime consultant for the phase III construction inspection services for various Routes, Various Counties (7 counties), in IDOT region 3/district 5. Recently completed construction inspection for the bridge repair and latex concrete overlaying of bridge deck contract on the two bridges over highway I- 74 in Champaign County. On this bridge involves installation of protective shield on the bridge that carries High Cross Road over I-74 at Urbana, which required a lane closure on I-74. The work involves structural repairs by installing fiber wraps around the girders, injecting shotcrete concrete, latex concrete overlay, asphalt and concrete patching. The second bridge is at the St. Joseph interchange (exit 192), where contractor installed a protective shield on the bridge that carries County Road 12 over I-74. Structural repairs using fiber wraps and latex concrete overlay were performed.

DCE’s involvement on this project:

• Review the plans and specifications according to IDOT documentations of contract quantities under IDOT resident engineer.
• Verification of Construction staking and layout for the pavement work.
• Inspection of asphalt and concrete restoration.
• Inspection of hydro jetting application of latex concrete and performing the ring test of surface of pavement and pavement marking.
• Checking the calculation of quantity of soil, concrete, asphalt restoration work and length of fiber wrap that applied at the beam.
• Inspecting the Latex concrete, Shotcrete by air content according to ASTM C231.
• Daily traffic control monitoring before and after work.
