Detailed Narrative Description of Project & Services provided:

Design Consulting Engineers (DCE) was selected by Joliet Junior College for the Capitol Improvement Project. The Capital Improvement Project was divided into Phase I and Phase II, and the construction period was from 2009 to 2012. Phase I projects included the construction of a new Green House Facility, Campus Center, and new parking lot and site work. Phase II projects include the construction of a new Health Professions Building, expansion Automotive and Natural Science Buildings, new parking lot, access road, and site work. In addition DCE has also provided our services on the new Facility Services Building project. The total construction budget for Phase I was approximately $60 Million and Phase II approximately $100 Million. DCE’s involvement on this project was to provide design review, construction supervision of structural steel, material testing, inspection, and documentation.

Activities of this project:

• Environmental services and CCDD materials certification as per IL. EPA guidelines
• Green building LEED certification inspection and testing and final report
• Inspection and testing of soil, foundation, subgrade base and backfill materials
• Inspection and testing of different concrete mixes
• Review, inspection, and testing of structural steel at field and fabrication shop in Minnesota
• Review, inspection, and testing of asphalt paving mix designs
• Quality control plan monitoring
• Preparation of Request for Information (RFI) on behalf of owner
• Floor Flatness and Floor Levelness inspection and testing
• Preparation of final inspection and testing reports
• Submitting daily field inspection and laboratory testing reports to client via e-mail in PDF format
